I'm interested in interplanting corn with sweet potatoes, using the sweet potatoes as ground cover. Has anyone done this and what were the outcomes?

I've had similar issues when planting different crops together. They end up competing for nutrients and water, which is why they don't thrive. It's a bit tricky to balance everything when they're sharing resources!
Absolutely! There are great combinations that can benefit each other. Corn can give beans a structure to climb, and squash can cover the ground. Just need to pick the right pairings.
I tried it, and honestly, it didn’t go so well. The sweet potatoes struggled because the corn's roots were competing for space, and it was tough to tend to the corn without trampling on the sweet potatoes. Overall, both plants ended up underperforming.

I’ve found it depends heavily on the soil quality and the plant combinations. Some plants can work well together, while others just choke each other out. For example, corn, beans, and squash are a classic trio that does great together because they support each other nicely!
