Has Anyone Used Adhesive Tiles in Their Bathroom or Shower? Experiences?

I'm moving into a new place this summer, and the bathroom tiles just aren't my style. Instead of tearing them out, I'm considering using adhesive tiles as a quick fix. However, I'm really worried about potential mold issues. I'm concerned that moisture could get trapped between the original tiles and the adhesive ones, leading to mold growth. What have your experiences been like with adhesive tiles in damp areas like bathrooms or showers? Would you recommend this method over traditional tiling?

If you're looking for a quick fix but worried about mold, you might consider redoing the grout on your existing tiles instead. It can make them look brand new without the risk of moisture getting trapped. You can also explore tiling over your current tiles using thinset, but it’s essential that the tiles are prepared right to ensure good adhesion. Just don’t go too crazy with layers—stick to two at most.

That's a smart way to go! New grout can surprisingly refresh the look without the mess of removing tiles.

I've used vinyl adhesive tiles before, and they're pretty decent for decoration. But I'd avoid using them in wet areas like showers or on uneven surfaces. Water tends to get trapped, and that could lead to some serious mold problems. Stick to dry areas if you go this route.

Totally agree with D4nnyB. For a bathroom, decorative adhesive tiles are fine, but steer clear of anywhere that could get wet!

From what I've seen, adhesive tiles are okay for floors, but definitely not for use inside the shower. They don't all perform the same, so really take the time to read reviews. I found Trafficmaster tiles to be the most reliable.

Thanks for the brand tip! I'll look for those. It’s good to know there are options that work better than others.
