Has Anyone Used Peel and Stick on Kitchen Cabinets Instead of Painting?

Hey everyone! We're almost wrapping up a remodel of our entire house, and I'm eager to give our kitchen cupboards a fresh look. I'm considering using a peel and stick material instead of paint. I'm curious if anyone here has experience with this approach. Does it hold up better than paint? My husband is really against the idea of painting, even after my research.

To be honest, nothing really adheres well to wood except paint. If you want to paint, make sure you sand it well first and use a good primer and paint combo. I’ve heard adding a hardener can really help with longevity, plus a clear coat on top might save you from peeling issues later on.

That’s solid advice! I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely talk to my friend about that sanding and hardener idea.

I've been curious about that too! I found some options online, but I'm also planning to check out hardware stores this weekend to see what's available. Have you come across any good brands yet?

Yeah, mainly online seems to be the best bet! If you find any good stuff in the stores, let us know!

It depends on your current cupboards. If they’re stained wood, peel and stick won’t last as long as paint. I've tried it before, and while the looks can be charming, the durability can't compare to paint. If the aesthetic suits you, go for it, but be prepared for possible wear and tear.

I get what you're saying. I’m not a huge fan of the look either, but my husband is stuck on not painting over the stained wood.
