Have You Ever Regretted Choosing the Cheapest Cleaning Service?

Asked By CuriousCat42 On

I've noticed that many people just Google "clean house near me" and then go for the cheapest option, only to end up disappointed. Has anyone here had a similar experience, or maybe found a better method for selecting local cleaning services? I'm curious to know: 1. Is it worth it to spend more for higher quality? 2. Did you find any unique ways to vet your cleaners? I'm really interested in hearing your real-life stories, whether they're good or bad!

From my experience, a cleaning service that doesn't advertise usually offers better quality. I’ve picked up new clients just through word of mouth, as have many services. If they're actively advertising, it might mean they either can't keep customers or are just using that for marketing. Look out for those fleet services too, they often just pass on the work to others and charge more for it!

I've had terrible luck with cleaners in the past; a few have even stolen from me. The key is really to find an individual who cares about their work. Whether it’s the cleaner directly or a trustworthy supervisor who checks their work, having someone invested in quality can make all the difference. Cleaning can get dull and corners can easily be cut, so it’s important to get someone who maintains high standards.

I found my cleaner through Handy! It took several tries to find someone I liked, but once I did, she was fantastic—didn’t break anything and charged a fair price. I’ve been using her for six years now! If all else fails, asking your neighbors might be the way to go, though I know that’s not an option for everyone.

What if you don’t have neighbors around? Any good online referral sites you’d recommend?
