I have a Rikon 14" Bandsaw model 10 324 that I've been using with a standard 110 outlet, which the instructions say should work fine. However, I'm experiencing issues when I try to cut through anything thicker than 1 inch; the motor seems to stall. I'm wondering if I need to switch to a 220 outlet for this to work, or if there's another issue at play. For reference, I'm currently using a Timberwolf blade that's 3/4" wide, 11 inches in length, and has 4 TPI. I've also had this problem with a finer blade, so I'm looking for some advice on what I should do.

I've got the same bandsaw and had the exact issue. Once I wired it for 220, the stalling problem disappeared. Also, be sure to check your blade alignment and tension—it makes a big difference. Don't forget to inspect your tires for any wear; that could also be contributing.
Totally agree! A well-tensioned blade is key!
It might not be your motor that's actually stalling. Sometimes, it can be a slipping belt that causes this issue. Make sure everything is tight and aligned. Double-check that your belt is in good condition—if it's worn or loose, it could be slipping under pressure.
I’d bet that’s a big possibility. You should do a complete check on all the parts!
Good idea! That could definitely save you a lot of headaches.
I used to have a 3/4 HP bandsaw and could cut through 6" hardwoods without any issues at all. Your blade might just need to be sharper, or try reducing your feed speed. Sometimes going slower helps take the load off.
Just to confirm, is your blade new? A sharp blade can really make a difference.
Yeah, definitely make sure the tension is right. That can really be a game changer!

I’m thinking 220 is the way to go, but you’re right about the alignment too—can't overlook that.
