Help! Cracking on my kitchen counter and basement window edges

I've noticed that the cement-like material along the edges of my kitchen counter and the basement window is cracking away. I'm not sure if this is grout, cement, or caulk, and I'm looking for advice on how to fix it. If you need to see what I'm dealing with, I've attached some pictures of the issues: one for the kitchen counter and another for the basement window.

Exactly, silicone caulk works perfectly for both your kitchen counter and window. It's flexible and water-resistant, making it ideal for those areas!

What you're dealing with is most likely grout, and it should actually be replaced with silicone caulk. Grout isn’t great for areas that get a lot of movement or moisture. Just remove the old grout and fill it in with 100% silicone caulk for a better seal! This will also prevent cracking in the future.
