Help! How to Eliminate Fungus Gnats for Good?

Asked By PlantLover42 On

I'm really struggling to get rid of fungus gnats. I removed all my plants to deal with them, got rid of the gnats, and then bought new plants. But after watering the new plants, I noticed the gnats are back, laying eggs in the fresh soil, which was from a new bag. I'm not sure where they're coming from since I'm careful with watering, yet I still see them even after just a small watering. Could the soil I purchased be full of compost that's attracting them? I've read some tips suggesting that watering less helps, but I'm getting gnats immediately after any watering. Also, I've been looking into mosquito bits but I'm not sure how long they last in the pot. Any advice on this would be super helpful!

I really can’t recommend the Drosera capensis enough. They’re great at catching gnats and are pretty easy to grow; you can have a ton if you let them self-pollinate! It's one of the best ways to tackle your gnat problem, naturally or not.

That’s awesome! I have a drosera binata multifida, and it loves munching on gnats and fruit flies!
