Hey folks! I've got a confession: I'm notorious for killing plants, and it's not intentional at all! Recently, I took care of a friend's home for two weeks, strictly following detailed instructions, and still managed to kill five plants. I'm determined to try again and have started my own herb garden with rosemary and mint in a raised bed. I've used Kellogg Raised Bed and Potting soil, watered them lightly (as my boyfriend advised), and now I'm just hoping for the best. Can anyone give me super simple, step-by-step instructions to keep these plants alive? I live in San Diego, which has great weather and a mix of light shade and direct sunlight throughout the day—so I know I have some advantages, but I just need all the help I can get! Thanks!

I totally get it, I was a serial plant killer too! I've found that sometimes ignoring your plants a bit lets them thrive more than coddling them does. You might be overwatering or fussing with them too much.
Hey there! Don’t be too hard on yourself—taking care of plants can be tricky, especially if you feel stressed about it. Since you're in a temperate area, that’s a good start!
Kellogg's soil has mixed reviews, but instead of swapping it out now, consider adding some fertilizer—store-bought or even compost. By the way, rosemary and mint might not be the best combo. Mint likes moist soil and can compete with rosemary; it’s better to keep them apart. Maybe use a divider to water each according to their needs. Just relax: gardening can be rewarding. When I started, basil, scallions, and tomatoes were my go-to starters, and they helped me build my confidence! Just take your time, and you’ll get the hang of it soon.
Trust me, every plant parent has a pile of dead plants behind them—it's all part of the learning experience! ?
Haha, then I must have enough karma built up for these herbs to thrive!

I think I’m caught in between—sometimes I ignore them too much and other times I overwater. I need to find that sweet spot!
