Help! I Think I Killed My Lavender Plants!

Asked By SunnyGardener42 On

I recently planted some lavender and applied lawn fertilizer to them. Unfortunately, they seemed to start dying within a few days. I'm wondering if I used the wrong kind of fertilizer, or if there could be another reason for their decline. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, everyone!

It's possible that the lawn fertilizer you used is too strong for your lavender. Some lawn fertilizers contain ingredients that can burn plant roots, especially if they’re not suited for flowering plants. For lavender, it’s best to use an organic balanced fertilizer in the spring instead. Just a thought!

Did you check if there was any weed killer in your fertilizer? A weed and feed product can be harmful to lavender. If it was just regular fertilizer, diluting it might have helped. Lavender prefers poor soil and minimal watering, so it's really not a fan of rich nutrients.

I didn't use weed killer, just the fertilizer! I'll keep in mind to dilute next time!
