Help Identifying an Old Garden Tool

I need help figuring out the name of a garden tool my parents used to own. We always called it a 'thrasher,' but I can't find anything online that matches what I'm looking for. The tool was about 3 feet long with a thin metal bar, and the last 8 inches were sharpened and upswept at around a 60-degree angle. We recently moved to a house with a small, overgrown garden, and I think this tool would be perfect for the job instead of using an electric strimmer. Just to clarify, it's not a sickle or a scythe—the edge was perpendicular to the blade, and only the upswept portion was sharpened, allowing you to cut plants standing up without bending over.

It kind of sounds like a long-handled weeding knife. They can be used to cut weeds while standing, but I noticed you mentioned it's not quite that. It's tricky to say without a picture! Glad you found it eventually, though!

Yeah, I actually found it and updated my post with the link! Thanks for your input, though!

Could it be a brier hook? That sounds like it might fit your description! They have a long handle and a sharp, curved blade.

What about a bush hook? They're also known as billhooks and might be what you're remembering from your childhood.
