Help! Just Got a Huge Bill from ATT After Digging – What Should We Do?

We called 811 before our subcontractor started digging for the water line at our house. They ended up damaging an existing line, and now ATT is billing us thousands of dollars for repairs. As the builders, what are our options for handling this situation?

If you have proof that 811 was contacted, like emails and confirmation numbers, then you should be protected. 811 is responsible for notifying utility companies to mark their lines, so if your subcontractor dug in an area without any markings, it could be the utility provider's fault. Definitely check if all their utility lines were marked before any digging happened!

Right, but now we are getting a bill... Should we reach out to both 811 and ATT about this?
