Help! Lag Bolt Spinning in the Stud – Any Fix Without New Holes?

Hey everyone,

I recently installed a TV wall mount that can safely hold up to 167 lbs, while my TV weighs 145 lbs. I aimed to secure it into two studs for maximum stability. After pre-drilling four holes, I managed to get two lag bolts with standard flat washers into one stud, and two into another.

However, I've run into an issue: the top right lag bolt simply won't tighten and just keeps spinning in the hole. It's definitely not moving outward since I can't pull it out by hand, but it seems stripped. I'm in a bit of a bind since I can't drill new holes; I tried once before but they ended up unlevel, and I don't want to mess up the stud even more with 8 empty holes already there. Is there any way I can fix this without having to remount everything? Appreciate your help!

Hey! Did you use an impact driver while installing those lag bolts? Generally, 3/4 lag bolts should work fine in studs. If you're worried, consider getting those toggle anchors made for drywall—they can hold over 140 lbs. Just a thought!
