I tried growing potatoes in a grow bag last fall, and everything started out great! I even planned to expand my garden with other veggies. I planted the seed potatoes about two months ago, and the leaves look beautiful. Today, I checked one of the grow bags and found maggots in the soil. I'm feeling really defeated and sad about this. I haven't checked the other bags yet because I just came inside to cry. Can anyone explain what might have happened and if there's anything I can do to save my potatoes? Thanks for any help!

Those maggots might not be a big deal! Sometimes, they don't harm the potatoes at all. The key is whether they’re actively eating the plants. You might want to dig around a bit when you can to see what's going on. In the meantime, don’t lose hope! You could still salvage your crop. Good luck!
Ah man, that's a bummer! This can be one of the tougher parts of gardening. First off, make sure to identify whether those are maggots or grubs. If they’re grubs, consider using nematodes to help manage them. Additionally, you might want to refresh your soil, and if you can find some short-day seed potatoes, you could still get a small crop going this year. Hang in there!
