Help Me Choose an Impact Torque Wrench for My Deere and More

I'm looking for a reliable impact torque wrench for a few projects. I need it primarily for changing blades on my Deere shredder (RC2072) and grooming mower (GM 2060), with nut sizes ranging from 38-42mm. Additionally, I want something that can assist with changing tires on my Kawasaki Mule and vehicles (F150 & midsized SUV). I've got several Dewalt tools but haven't used a torque wrench before. I spotted the DCF896 online for $269 but notice other similar models with different model numbers, and I'm confused if they're fundamentally different or just marketed differently at Home Depot vs. Lowe's. Is there a reference guide for comparing Dewalt torque wrench models? Also, I want one with adjustable torque settings for various tasks. I'm in Central Texas, where it's pretty hot and humid, so I'd prefer a model that's well-sealed against dirt and moisture. Any suggestions?

Here's a quick breakdown: DCF921/922/923 are compact and ideal for most DIY tasks, but you might still need a breaker bar for those stubborn bolts. The DCF891/892 models are mid-range and more robust, while the DCF900 is larger and heavier—potentially overkill unless you really need that extra power. If you're considering older models, just check the torque values to ensure you’re not getting a less powerful option. I use both the DCF923 and DCF891 for vehicle work, and they've been solid for me!

Thanks for clarifying the model differences! I didn’t know what a breaker bar was before, so I’ll look that up now.

The DCF900 is currently on sale for $199, which should cover all your needs! Dewalt has a bunch of torque wrenches, and many have different anvil styles, but they can do the job well. I normally use the DCF891 and DCF892, which are comparable in size to the 896 but offer more torque, and they usually have the same price point. Just a heads up, you'll likely find great options within the Dewalt range!

Awesome! Where can I find that sale price?

I personally love my DCF921 from the Atomic series. It has adjustable torque settings and works perfectly for my mowers. I've tackled rusty bolts and lug nuts easily without any issues. It’s compact enough to reach tight spots where bigger impacts struggle. For lighter tasks, I use a 2AH battery, but a larger battery could potentially yield more torque if needed. I also got a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter for $15, which eliminates the need for a separate 3/8" impact wrench.
