I'm trying to decide between getting the M12 stubby in 3/8 or 1/2 inch. Which one is more versatile? I've heard that the 1/2 has a bigger anvil, but I'm curious about which works better with a reducer or an increasing adapter. I really want to find the best deal that I can customize as needed.

The 3/8 inch anvil is perfect if you want to keep things lightweight and compact. You can totally utilize it with a low-profile adapter that helps you get into tighter spaces without sacrificing power. Pairing it with Astro nano sockets works well too! Just remember that the socket size can influence how you use the tool overall.
If you're only going to use one set of sockets, I'd suggest going for the 1/2 inch stubby. While the 3/8 inch is great, having the larger capability with a 1/2 inch will save you from needing two different sets of sockets down the line. Just keep in mind that the size distinction isn't everything; the compact nature of the tool really makes the difference when using it in tighter spots.
You really can't go wrong with either option. But don't forget that adapters can lead to some torque loss. Many folks end up frustrated thinking their stubby isn't powerful enough only to realize later it's due to the adapters they used. Stick with the proper size, and you'll find a good fit for your needs!
