Help! My Bathtub and Shower Combo Makes a Mess When I Shower – Any Solutions?

Hey everyone! ? I recently moved into a new home and I'm pretty excited about it. However, I ran into a big issue during my first shower: my bathtub and shower combo doesn't keep the water from splashing everywhere. When I showered, the water would spray out and create a huge puddle outside the tub, which means I've had to use a bunch of towels to clean it up afterwards. This is concerning because it could lead to mold growth and cause higher water bills.

I thought about sitting in the tub to shower, but it's really inconvenient to hold the nozzle with one hand, and I find it hard to get up from the slippery tub. I'm also not the youngest anymore, so it's tough on my back as well. Is there any advice or solutions you all could share? I really didn't notice this issue before buying the place, and while I love the house otherwise, this is quite a problem for me. Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the new home! ? It sounds like the previous owner either didn't use that bathroom much or didn't bother to put in a proper shower setup. An expandable shower curtain rod could work well for you, though it's worth asking if a full glass sliding door would be more effective for keeping water in the tub. Just be cautious with the current setup; that glass panel isn’t super secure!

Thanks for the suggestion! It does feel like a design flaw, and I wish someone had mentioned it before.

Have you thought about using a shower curtain or a better shower door? If you aim the shower head a bit lower, that might help too. There’s some physics at play here! Just make sure your shower setup is secure to avoid any accidents.

Honestly, it sounds like that tub was just never intended for a shower. It's not great design, so it'll keep splashing everywhere until you make changes. I’d recommend trying a circular shower curtain for now to contain the water better until you can get a proper fix in place!

I appreciate the insight! I really do need a more practical solution.
