I received a small Bear Paw plant a little over a month ago, and it's not doing well. It originally had just a few leaves, but now they're dropping off even though they looked healthy at first. I'm still using the same pot and soil it came in, which seems like a succulent mix that doesn't hold moisture. I've been watering it only when the soil is completely dry, but not letting it stay dry for too long. My apartment gets good sunlight—what's going wrong here? Should I switch it to all-purpose potting soil and a new pot? I'd love to see it thrive since they look so cool when they mature! Currently, it's down to one large floppy leaf and one smaller one.

I usually only water my Bear Paw when the leaves start to feel soft and a bit deflated, which ends up being every 10 to 21 days depending on the season. Make sure to let the pot dry out completely between waterings. Mine gets a few hours of morning sun and then indirect light throughout the day. You’ll know it’s happy when the tips of the leaves turn red!
It's important to really let that soil dry out before watering again. How often do you think you're watering it? If it's indoors, make sure it's in the sunniest window. A lot of people don’t realize how much light a succulent needs to really thrive!
