Help! My Engagement Ring Fell Under the Bathroom Sink – What Can I Do?

Asked By CuriousCat99 On

So, I totally messed up and dropped my engagement ring under the bathroom sink. It slipped through the tiny gap between the tile and the sink cabinet. I thought I could use a magnetic pole to retrieve it, but turns out gold isn't magnetic. Now I'm panicking! Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to get it out? I've included some pictures to show you what I'm dealing with: [inside the sink cabinet](https://imgur.com/a/vQr7pTC) and [the gap between the sink and tile](https://imgur.com/a/fXlcR1J). This space is super small, and since we're renting, I don't want to cut a hole in the wood, although my landlord might be okay with it. Thanks in advance for any tips!

You might want to consider getting a borescope camera. They’re pretty cheap—about $20 on Amazon—and you can use your phone as a screen. With that, you can locate the ring and pull it out without causing any damage. Super handy!

Why not try vacuuming it out? You can fish through the canister after. I even modified my shop vacuum by cutting off the end to make it easier to reach small spaces. It might work for you!

That’s a great idea! If the space is tight, maybe grab a smaller vac to get in there easily.

You can also put a nylon knee-high over the end of the hose to catch the ring before it goes into the canister—just a thought!

Using a coat hanger shaped into a U could work! Wrap some duct tape around one end, then fish it back there. When it touches the ring, just lift the other side and pull it out. Give it a shot!

Thanks for the tip! I'm heading to get some duct tape to try this right away.
