Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a frustrating situation with my two little ones (ages 6 and 3) who just can't help but splash water everywhere during bath time. I've tried using those water catch trays that hang over the tub, but they're not doing the job well enough. I keep an eye on them while they're in the bath, but it only takes one big splash or a toy dropping from the tub to leave the floor soaked. My real concern, though, is the water damage it's causing below our bathroom ceiling. Despite my efforts to caulk around the tub, toilet, and vanity, water keeps getting through. I've already replaced the ceiling once due to damage, and I'm worried about doing it again. I'm not sure if I should also be re-grouting or sealing the tile floor in a shower-like manner. Any advice on stopping the splashes and preventing more ceiling damage would be amazing!

Keeping a shower liner in place and mostly closed might help contain the splashes. Just keep a little opening so you can check on them without them going crazy!
As a parent of four, I've found that giving them a designated "splash time" works wonders! Let them go wild with the shower curtain closed—use a clear liner so you can see them—but make sure to put down towels to catch any stray water. They'll tire out quickly, and then you can clean them up without too much hassle!
We switched to taking showers instead when they're little; it’s quicker and less messy, plus you can still make it fun with toys!
It sounds like the splashing might not be your only issue. If you're experiencing ceiling damage, it might be worth hiring a plumber to check for leaks that could be happening elsewhere in your plumbing. Bath splashes shouldn't cause serious damage alone! Also, can you use the downstairs bathroom for baths instead to limit the chaos?
Definitely! If you can't trust the tub to handle some water, that's a big red flag.
Totally agree! I let mine splash behind a closed curtain, and they love it for just a few moments before they wind down!
