Hey everyone! I need some help with my mint plants. I've tried several times to grow them in my flower bed, which also has some rosemary bushes that are thriving, but my mint just keeps dying. They get plenty of sunlight and live in Ireland, so they get a fair amount of rain too. I've bought different species of mint and even tried to root some supermarket cuttings—managed to grow 8 plants from that. I ended up giving half away to my wife's granny, and hers are doing great while mine just wither away. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

How are you managing to kill mint? That's impressive in its own right! Just a tip, make sure they aren't too dry and give them some space if they're in the ground—they really don’t like to share!
Sounds like you're doing the opposite of what most people do—actually killing mint! It's a tough herb. I recommend growing it in pots instead; trust me, it'll take over if you let it! Mint isn't fussy with its soil or water, and it thrives in most conditions. If you do end up going for more exotic varieties later, they might need some special care. And just a heads up, if you have cats, consider trying catmint! They go crazy over it and it's super fun to watch. Also, mint can look dead in winter but often bounces back—check your plants to see if they're starting to shoot out new growth!
What’s the secret to killing mint? It seems like a challenge since it usually grows like a weed! Maybe you can try potting them to prevent the spread and monitor their needs more closely!
You know, I don’t live in Ireland, but I've been battling mint over here in sandy loam soil. It pops up everywhere! What type of soil do you have your mint in? Maybe they need a different mix to thrive for you.

I had a similar experience! Watered what I thought was a dead mint plant, and it came back strong! It's crazy how resilient they can be.
