I'm helping my mom paint her living room, and after taping everything up, I opened the paint can only to find straight-up white paint. She was supposed to get a custom mixed light blush color, so some mix-up must have happened. I'm not sure if she accidentally chose a color too light or if it was the paint mixing process that went wrong. I'll have to check for the receipt, but do you think there's a chance they'll allow for an exchange?

First off, mix the paint really well! I had the same experience and even though it looked super light at first, once I tested it on the wall and let it dry, it turned out to be the exact color I needed. Make sure to check if you can exchange it—since it’s a custom mix, they might not be willing unless there’s a clear mistake.
Definitely give it a good stir first! It’s common for the pigment to settle in white base paints. If it’s still not right, Home Depot should be able to verify the color and add more tint to it. I once returned paint that I didn’t need and they were super helpful in changing the tint for me on the spot!
Don’t lose hope! Paint can look totally different when wet than when it dries. Try putting a swatch on the wall and let it dry completely. If it’s still off, just remember custom mixes usually can’t be returned unless there was a clear error.
