Help! My New Dishwasher is Growing Mold on My Dishes

I just moved into a rental house three months ago, and it came with a brand new Frigidaire dishwasher. Right from the start, I noticed that if I didn't unload the clean dishes immediately, they would end up oddly wet again, and there would be condensation inside the dishwasher that had a strange odor. When the dishwasher is only partially loaded with dirty dishes, it starts smelling terrible within hours.

Just a couple of days ago, I loaded it with just some drinking glasses, a plate, and a few spoons. When I opened it later, the smell was overwhelming, and everything was covered in this strange mold. I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix this. I've dealt with bad dishwashers before, but they never caused a problem like this.

To make things trickier, I also have a new stove (also Frigidaire) that's acting up, and my older fridge seems like it could be on its last legs. My landlords are really nice and the appliances are pretty expensive, but I'd like to try fixing these issues on my own before I bring all this up with them. ?

Make sure to check all the filters first. It's also a good tip to leave the dishwasher door slightly ajar after a cycle to let steam escape, which can help prevent smells. It sounds like a drainage problem could be the main issue though!

Try this: start a cycle and wait until you hear sloshing inside. Then stop the cycle, pour in about half a gallon of white vinegar, and let it sit overnight. The next morning, close the door and resume the cycle. This should help clean everything out. You can repeat it if needed, and adding baking soda may help flush out the drain line too.

It sounds like you might have a drainage issue. If the drain is connected improperly, that could definitely lead to the mold and smells. Since your dishwasher isn't next to the sink, it might have a long drain line that's getting clogged or trapped moisture. Definitely check that out first!
