Hey everyone! I just moved into my first place with a garden, and it's completely overrun with weeds. There's a creeping plant that's taken over, plus patches of wild onions that I'm eager to get rid of. I'm feeling a bit lost on where to start. What tools do I need, and what should I focus on first?

To kick things off, I'd recommend grabbing some essential tools: a fork, spade, hand fork, and trowel will do wonders for digging everything out. Don't forget a comfy pair of gardening gloves and sturdy boots – your knees will thank you for a kneeling pad too! Oh, and make sure you have some large garden waste bags to toss out everything you can't compost. Remember, it's going to take time and patience, but you'll get there!
It might be helpful if you share some photos of your garden! Having a visual would let us give better advice. I recently cleared out over 20 years of ivy from my own garden, and trust me, it’s a process. Start one section at a time, pull out the easier weeds first, and fill your garden waste bin. Focus on getting rid of the creepers for now – the wild onions can wait. Once you clear a space, it really makes maintaining it easier!
Tackling an overgrown garden can feel daunting, but it's best to just do one small section at a time. This’ll help you feel accomplished quicker! And while you want to remove obvious troublemakers, take your time. It might take a year to fully understand what plants you've got. Enjoy your gardening journey! Best of luck!
