Help! My New GFCI Outlet Has No Power – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I recently installed a new GFCI outlet in my master bedroom, but it's not getting any power. Here's the situation: the breaker for the bedroom was turned off, and when I tried to reset it, it just flips back to off. I've had issues with this specific outlet for a while, especially when my wife plugs in her hair dryer, which causes the lights to dim temporarily. After replacing the outlet, the breaker now stays on, but the new outlet and those after it still have no power. I tested it, and the receptacle tester shows an open ground with no lights indicating power. I'd love some troubleshooting tips – should I just call an electrician?

First off, try turning the breaker off and double-check the wiring on the GFCI. It's important to make sure all the connections are tight because if it's saying open ground, that usually means a wire might be loose somewhere. I'd suggest unscrewing the GFCI box and giving it another look. Sometimes it just takes a bit of adjusting!

I've already done that three times, and I'm still having issues!

Did you connect the line and load wires correctly? When wiring a GFCI, the hot wire should go on the gold screws, ground on the green, and neutral on the silver. If those aren’t in the right spots, it could definitely cause problems! Just double-check to make sure everything's in order.

From what I see, I think I have them in the right places. It's confusing!
