Help! My Paint Rollers Disintegrated – What Should I Do?

I recently painted my entire 1800 sqft home, and to my horror, the rollers I used started disintegrating, leaving my walls looking fuzzy, almost like they were covered in hair from shedding dogs. I only noticed this after the natural light faded in the evening, and I'm feeling pretty devastated after investing $40k into my home renovation. Home Depot hasn't been helpful at all. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Is sanding down every wall and starting from scratch my only option? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yikes, that sounds annoying! Sanding everything down is definitely a solid approach. It doesn't have to be a huge hassle; just a quick run with a sanding pole can do the trick. After sanding, I'd recommend going to a paint store like Sherwin Williams and investing in their roller covers; they're much better at handling paint without shedding. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes!

Sounds like you might have had a bad batch of cheap rollers! The best fix is to sand down everything to remove the furry mess, which you can do pretty quickly with a sanding pole and some 150 grit sandpaper. After that, just repaint and use better quality rollers this time—Purdy is a popular choice that many recommend. It'll save you hassle in the long run!

I've been there! It's super frustrating when rollers shed like that. To avoid this in the future, try washing your rollers before you use them; it helps to get rid of any loose fibers. Wrapping the roller with painter's tape before starting can also help remove any fuzz. And be sure to keep the roller wet—if you let it dry out, it can pull more fibers off onto the wall. Good luck with the touch-up!
