I recently applied a final coat of polyurethane, but unfortunately, the wind knocked it over into the dirt. It's now really sticky, and I'm wondering if I should sand it down and start the whole process over again. Any advice on how to handle this sticky mess?

That sounds like a rough situation! I'd recommend letting it dry fully first. Once it's dry, you can use a card scraper to gently remove the dirt and any uneven spots. Just be careful not to damage the layer underneath! Good luck!
I feel you! This kind of thing can be so frustrating. It might be a bit late, but I suggest wiping it down with mineral spirits to clean off the dirt. Then do another round of sanding. After that, you should be good to put on another coat!

Yeah, that sounds like a solid plan! Just make sure the surface is completely clean before applying the next coat.
