I recently tried to reinforce my steel door by using 3-inch screws, hoping to protect against home invasion. Unfortunately, after removing the last of the original screws, the door started to come off its hinges! I've heard some doors have loose insulation, but mine felt solid. Now I'm stuck—what are my options? I considered switching to a solid core door, but those can easily cost over $500. Is there a more budget-friendly way to fix this issue? Also, I need to replace both my front doors and a garage door too!

You might want to consider that you're only supposed to use longer screws in the hinge side of the door frame. This is crucial since it attaches the door to the actual structure, rather than just the door jamb. Try putting the original screws back in and see if that helps. It could make a big difference!
Check if your 3-inch screws are only threaded halfway. If they are, you'll essentially have no threads holding the hinge to the door. I'd recommend switching back to shorter screws, especially since the door worked fine before. Undoing that adjustment might be the easiest fix!
