Help! My Water Pressure Keeps Creeping Up After Replacing the PRV

I built my own house about 9 years ago and hired pros for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Recently, I noticed that the water pressure on the house side of my pressure reducing valve (PRV) was higher than expected. It's set to 50 psi, but it can creep up to around 100 psi when little to no water is being used. I replaced the PRV, thinking that would solve the issue, but a few days later, I observed the same problem. What could be causing this, and what steps can I take to fix it?

It sounds like your PRV might be getting stuck. Its job is to stop the flow at the set pressure, so if no water is flowing, it should keep the pressure at 50 psi. If you have hard water, sediment could be preventing the valve from closing all the way, causing that pressure to spike. It's weird that it's happening with a new PRV, though. Maybe check for any sediment that could be affecting it?

I figured that could be the issue with the old PRV. We do have hard water with some sediment now and then so it's possible. But this new PRV is only a few days old. Thanks for your input!
