I accidentally left my watermelon seeds outside on a hot day in a closed porch that gets super warm, kind of like a greenhouse. I planted some seeds yesterday and had some older ones that were doing great, but when I checked after about six hours, the thermometer read 110°F and most of the plants looked really droopy. I quickly brought them back inside, but I'm worried I may have cooked them. Is there any chance they'll survive? I even noticed steam coming out when I removed the cover. Any tips on what I can do?

It's tough to say for sure! Just ensure the soil has some moisture. They still need sunlight but keep the temperature in check. Water them if the soil feels dry, and hopefully, they’ll bounce back!
Wow, that does sound like a scorcher! You'll find out soon if they're okay. The good thing about gardening is learning from these little hiccups. Do you have more seeds if you need to resow? What type of watermelon were you growing?
I planted 4 last week; only 2 have sprouted so far. I used Ocelot seeds from Johnny's, and I’m hoping for about 3 to grow for me and my family!
It sounds like it got way too hot for your plants! Make sure to water them well and keep the soil moist. Check on them in the morning to see if they perk up. Fingers crossed!

I touched the peat pellets and they felt moist, but I added some water just in case.
