Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie looking for advice on installing solar panels on my roof. I own a rowhome in a small city and have a rooftop deck, which gives me access to the roof, although it limits the space available for installation. I estimate I have about 250-300 square feet to work with. I've asked several solar companies for quotes, but they all said it wouldn't be worth it since I wouldn't cover my electric bill completely. I don't mind about that; I'm just looking to make a dent in my electricity costs. I've heard my state has regulations that should require companies to at least provide a quote, but it seems like that hasn't worked out. I want to proceed with the installation myself, but I'm unsure where to start. I have some technical skills with computers and mechanical work, but I'm not particularly experienced with electrical systems. I'd appreciate any guidance on what I should study to get started, especially regarding having a backup battery or power station in case of outages.
