Help! Replaced Switch and Light, Now My Bathroom Circuits Are Out!

So, I recently had an issue with an LED light in my bedroom closet that was flickering, so I replaced the switch and later the light fixture, which seemed to solve that problem. However, later that day, when I tried to turn on the ceiling lights and fan in my bathroom, which shares a wall with the closet, they wouldn't turn on. These are on a different circuit than the closet, and I checked the breakers, they're all fine. Strangely, I noticed the bathroom has an outlet and a mirror light that are still working. I wonder if they're tied into the closet's electrical from our past renovation. Before changing the switch, I noticed two black wires and a ground connection on the old switch. I connected the new switch in the same way but made sure the ground was attached to the ground screw. The light fixture was easy—just one black, one white, and the ground. I'll check those connections again soon as I've read that sometimes ceiling lights can be daisy chained, which might explain why the bathroom lights are out. Any ideas on what might be going on here or how to fix it?

Maybe check how your bathroom lights are wired. If they’re connected in series with the closet light and one of the fixtures is off, that could kill the power to the whole circuit. Also, recheck your ground connections; they can be a mess in older homes! A multimeter might come in handy to trace any live wires. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely consider the wiring situation.

Hey! Not sure if this will help, but could your bathroom lights be on a GFCI circuit? If so, check for a reset button somewhere. Sometimes those need to be reset after any change in electrical setup. Good luck!

Great point! I didn’t check that yet, so I’ll look into it.
