I had a panic moment because somehow a bat got into my house. My husband quickly managed to close the window while the bat was on the screen, which has trapped it between the window and the screen. I'm really stressed out and need some advice on what to do next. How can we safely get this bat out?

Rabies is serious business; you need to be cautious! After what I read, getting animals tested for rabies is crucial. Meanwhile, if you're feeling uncomfortable, just keep a distance. It might feel like the end of the world, but you can get through this. Hang in there!

FreakedOutAtMidnight: Thanks for the reassurance! I’ll make sure we're careful.

If the bat is just resting and not freaking out, you might just want to wait until morning. Bats can go into a sleepy state, making it easier to handle them. Just open a few doors if you can, and let it find its way out on its own. And remember, the bat doesn't want to hurt you; it’s just as scared!

SillySocks42: That makes sense. I hope it calms down for a bit. I’m just really on edge right now.

First things first, definitely call animal control! If you or anyone else was scratched or bitten, they need to check the bat for rabies. Better to be safe than sorry; rabies is no joke, and you might need shots if there's any chance of exposure. It's a stressful situation, so let the pros handle it. Also, don't try to touch the bat yourself!

PanickedPetOwner: Thanks, I'll call them in the morning! I definitely don't want to get too close to it.
