Hey everyone! I recently decided to tackle a project that involved fixing the damaged tiles around my tub surround. In my eagerness, I thought I could just replace the whole thing and went for a direct installation against the studs. However, I really messed up my measurements. The tiles above the tub go up to 69 inches, but the surround walls are only 60 inches tall. Now I'm stuck wondering how to fill the gap above the surround. Should I use regular drywall, green board, or something else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm feeling a bit lost here, so please bear with me.

You should definitely go with green drywall for that area. Once you put it up, tape and finish it like you would any other wall. Just remember, 'floating' means you’re applying joint compound to smooth out the seams and imperfections before painting or tiling. It’s a bit technical, but no worries if it sounds confusing—just take it step by step! By the way, I'd recommend finishing the tub surround first before working on the drywall, so everything aligns nicely.
