I'm dealing with a sudden water issue in my basement and could really use some insights on how to find the source. Our home is around 30 years old, and we recently refinished the basement about five years ago. Just a week ago, we noticed water pooling in the cracks of the LVP flooring, and it seems to have spread under the flooring significantly. Despite checking for obvious leaks from pipes, ceilings, or appliances, nothing stands out. We do hear a strange 'gurgling' sound in the rarely-used basement bathroom, though. I also noticed darker concrete near the sewage ejector pump, but there's no visible pooling there. We don't have a sump pump, and while the house is on well water and a septic system, both were inspected within the last five years. I even called a plumber, but he mostly focused on the need for a sump pump rather than identifying the leak's source. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm wondering about possible underground leaks or foundation cracks and how to check for those. Thanks for any help!

Have you checked the weather before the leaks started? If it hasn't rained recently, you might want to look at your gutters and downspouts to ensure everything's clear and not overflowing. If water is building up underground, that could be the issue! Also, take a peek at your water meter. Make sure no water is being used for a bit, then check the meter again. If it has moved, there might be a leak somewhere in the pipes.

Thanks for the tips! It hasn't rained in a while, and I've just checked my gutters and downspouts again to be doubly sure they’re clear. I don’t have a water meter since I'm on a private well and septic, but I appreciate the advice!
