Help! What is this strange white stuff showing up in my house?

I've been noticing this weird white stuff everywhere in my house—on the bathroom ceiling, doors, tiles, and even on the fridge seal. Some of it has a somewhat gummy, translucent look resembling white glue, while other parts appear fuzzy. I've also found these strange thin strands that resemble hair but are much finer. I live alone, have no pets or kids, and haven't done anything unusual lately aside from a little woodwork. Interestingly, this stuff is appearing in spots I've left untouched for over a year, like my old hairdryer. I recently started working with some vintage furniture from used cabinets and an old chair, both around 20-30 years old. Could this be mold, bugs, or something related to the woodwork? If anyone has experienced this, I'd really appreciate your insight!

It looks like you've got a mix of things going on here! Most of what I see points towards insect activity or mold. However, that picture you shared where something seems to be stripping the wood—I'd definitely look into that more closely. It’s unusual, and it could be damaging your furniture. Just make sure to clean it up thoroughly and keep an eye on how it develops.

Have you seen an increase in bugs around your home? If you clean up the white stuff and it keeps coming back, that’s definitely a red flag. It might be time to call in a pest inspector just to be safe. Also, keep an eye out for any signs of active burrowing or dust falling from those areas too!

I did have a silverfish issue a while back, primarily due to some moisture damage, but that’s been resolved now. Haven’t seen any since then.
