I live in Washington DC and I'm puzzled! Between 8 PM last night and 5 AM this morning, someone took my cantaloupe, which weighed about 1.5 lbs. I checked the cameras, and there's no sign of any person taking it. The only critter around was our neighborhood cat, and I have sturdy 7 ft fences, plus groundhog-proof fencing buried underground. So, I'm stumped! What could have sneaked in, avoided the cameras, and lifted my melon out of the garden?

I'm thinking a ghost might be your culprit! Seriously though, if your cameras didn’t catch anything, it could be a sign that your fences have a breach somewhere. Have you done a thorough check? Sometimes, it’s the little gaps that we overlook!
Sounds like a raccoon was at work! I've had a similar experience, and mine was definitely swiped by a raccoon. They can be sneaky little bandits—maybe yours was climbing and managed to snag it without being caught on camera?
Raccoons really do lean into the chaos. They’re experts at this kind of thing!

Yeah, definitely check your fence! Also, if it's a ghost, I hope they’re at least sharing those melons!
