Help with Ceiling Heating in My New Flat

Hey folks! I just moved into a 2 bedroom flat that uses ceiling heating (not sure if it's water-based or electric). There's also an immersion heater, and I'm wondering if that's related to the ceiling heating system. My electricity bill is skyrocketing (~£300), and I suspect the heating is to blame. I work from home, so I heat one room at a time: my office during the day and my bedroom at night. I'm currently on an Economy 7 electric plan. Any insights or suggestions on how to manage this? Thanks! ?

I've never heard of ceiling heating before! Sounds unusual. Have you considered using a ceiling fan? It could help circulate the heat better. If that doesn’t work, maybe a standard fan can help distribute the warmth.

I thought it was a typo too! Do you have any radiators in your place? If not, you might just have electric space heaters, which are pretty common. If you have an AC unit, sometimes those can do heating too.

I see ceiling heating mentioned in older American homes, often with some kind of electric resistance built into the ceiling. Just be cautious about potential asbestos if that's the case.

In the UK, ceiling fans with a reversing option could really help in your situation. When you reverse the fan, it pushes the warm air down, so it mixes better in the room. Definitely worth checking out!

That sounds like a great idea! I’ll definitely look into it.
