Help with PARKSIDE Smart Battery Not Showing Full Charge

Asked By BlueCat99 On

I've got a PARKSIDE PERFORMANCE Smart 8 Ah battery (PAPS 208 A1), and I've run into a charging issue. After I charge it, the charger indicates a full charge with three green lights, but when I check the battery itself, it only shows two lights (one red and one orange). I have two batteries, both about two years old and used similarly—basically just mowing the lawn twice a month. Any suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix this?

It sounds like you might have the basic slow charger, right? Sometimes those can get a bit more energy into the battery than you think. Have you checked if your charger is working well with both batteries?

Yeah, I do have the slow charger. One battery works fine, but the other one isn’t charging properly. The app showed fluctuating percentages, like 91% then dropped to 53%. Even when I popped the battery in and out, it wouldn’t go above 93%.

If this keeps happening, I’d suggest looking into a warranty replacement. I had a battery that just wouldn't charge anymore, turned out one of the cells was dead. Got a replacement pretty easily, and mine was only about a year old!

I had a similar issue where the green LED just stopped functioning, while the battery was actually full. You might want to connect the battery to the Parks app to get a more accurate capacity reading.

The app does show some weird percentages, like 91% and 93%, but it never goes higher. And the charger still shows it as fully charged.
