I have a desk lamp with a standard switch (you can see it in [this image](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61IUhfYscRL._AC_CR0%2C0%2C0%2C0_SX960_SY720_.jpg)). I'm looking for ways to add a simple on/off flip switch without losing the functionality of the current switch. Additionally, I'd like to use a phone app to control the lamp remotely, but right now, I can only turn it on with the existing switch. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you thought about using a smart plug at the wall outlet? It would let you control the lamp with your phone over WiFi or Bluetooth, while keeping the existing switch functional. Just make sure to find one that works well with your lamp!
That could be tricky if the existing switch doesn’t remember its state when power goes out.
Instead of adding a flip switch, consider swapping out the current control module for an LED strip controller that has WiFi remote control. Look for one that supports Tasmota for better privacy, so it doesn’t rely on servers overseas.

Yeah, the problem is that if it loses power, it still needs to be turned on manually with the original switch.
