How Can I Adjust Self-Closing Hinges on My Garage Door to Latch Properly?

Hey everyone! I'm having trouble with my garage door—it won't latch shut anymore and I think it's because the door isn't level. I know I need to adjust the hinges, but here's the kicker: two of the hinges are self-closing, and I'm not sure how to adjust them. I've tried adjusting the middle hinges, but that hasn't worked. I keep finding info online about changing the closing speed of self-closing hinges, but that's not my issue. The door closes fine, it's just that the latch bolt isn't hitting the strike plate in the right spot anymore. Any advice would be super helpful!

When I had a similar problem, I ended up moving the strike plate instead of adjusting the hinges. I just expanded the hole a bit so it would fit the latch better. Not sure if that’s the right fix, but it worked for me!

There are a couple of options you could try: like using thin shims in the hinge pockets, enlarging the strike plate hole, or even just repositioning the strike plate slightly to help with alignment.

If you want a quick fix, you might think about swapping the self-closing hinges with the adjustable ones. That way you can manage the top and bottom with ease. Just a thought!
