I need some advice on a tricky situation. I've got a wire that I've already soldered another wire to, but now I want to apply heat shrink to protect the connection. The problem is, I can't cut the wire because of how tight the space is, and using electrical tape isn't really an option either. What can I do here? Any tips would be appreciated!

You could also try using liquid PVC tape—apply a couple of coats for a solid seal.
Consider using a heat shrink tape! It comes as a tape instead of the usual tubes, so it might fit your needs without needing to cut anything.
You really can't apply heat shrink after soldering without cutting the wire. It’s like trying to connect two rings together that are already closed—you need to break one to get the other on!
For a simple fix, if the voltage is low, hot glue works too. Just be careful not to get it too close to any sensitive parts!
If you really want to handle this without cutting, try this: take two pieces of heat shrink and slice them down one side. Wrap them around the connection, and then use a little super glue to keep them in place before you heat it up to shrink. Should work fine!
Honestly, your best option might be to use liquid electrical tape. Just paint it on the connection, and it should seal it up pretty well. And for future projects, remember to slip the heat shrink on the wire before soldering—that's the easiest way to do it!

Liquid tape sounds a bit weird, though. Does it actually hold up well?
