How Can I Build a Remote-Controlled Ghast Launcher That Flies and Fires?

I'm trying to create a remote-controlled version of a Minecraft ghast for my 7-year-old son. The goal is to make it both fly and launch little fireballs (around 45mm in diameter), but I'm struggling with the launching mechanism. I have a solid plan for the flying part, but I'm at a loss for how to make it launch these small balls effectively. I've thought about using a dog ball launcher, but they're pricey and might be too heavy for flying. Any suggestions on how I might use spring mechanisms or other ideas for a remote-controlled setup to launch these balls? Thanks in advance!

Ever thought about using a pair of wheels that spin in opposite directions? You could have a small servo push the ball into them, which would then propel it out. This method works great for lighter stuff like ping-pong balls and might be simpler than what you originally planned!

I remember seeing a video where someone built something similar using an electric Nerf blaster as a base for the shooter. It's definitely a more complex project, but the results could be really cool! Check it out if you're feeling adventurous!

That sounds interesting! I might give that a look. Thanks for the tip!

You could use lightweight projectiles like ping pong balls or wiffle balls for your launcher. There are tons of clever small launcher designs available on 3D printing sites, which you can tweak to fit your needs. This way, you can keep the weight down while still launching your fireballs!
