I'm looking to build a simple cooling fan for a DC motor in my model boat. I'm not great with electronics, so I need an easy circuit that works with a 4 AA battery holder to power a small 2-inch fan, similar to those used for the Jetson Nano or Raspberry Pi. I also need a way to turn it on and off, and I know I can't just use a 12V DC fan directly from a computer. What small fans are efficient enough to run on 4 AA batteries or possibly 2 9-volt batteries? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You might want to check out a Miniature 5V Cooling Fan, like the ones from Adafruit. Pair it with a 5V Buck Converter if you need it, but honestly, for 4 AA batteries, you should be fine without it since the fan will still work on around 6V. Just be mindful of how many volts you supply; more than 6V would need that converter.

Would the run time of the AA's be a decent amount of time?
