I recently lost my dad to a heart attack, and he wanted his ashes scattered at our family lake that we've cherished for over 125 years. Time is tight, so I can't make anything too elaborate. I'm considering using 2-liter bottles as pontoons and building a pyramid out of knotty pine, topped with a wooden bowl to hold his ashes. I'd really appreciate any suggestions or ideas to help me with this project, as I have about a month to finish it.

Instead of a fancy pyre boat, why not keep it straightforward? If you have access to a regular boat, take the ashes to a spot he loved and scatter them there while enjoying a drink in his memory. Sometimes a simple gesture can mean the most!
If you're looking for a floating option, how about using a wooden serving tray? You could attach cork or polystyrene underneath for buoyancy, making it easy to keep afloat. For lighting, dry kindling along with some fuel like tea lights could really help keep the fire going. Just remember to ensure good airflow for the flames!
I'm really sorry for your loss. One idea is to use a wooden base for your boat; it'll help it float longer on the water. Just a simple, sturdy design can work really well!

That's a great idea! Keeping it functional and simple would definitely honor your dad's wishes and make it easier to manage.
