I'm struggling to keep my two mischievous cats out of my kitchen while still maintaining an open and airy feel in the space. I've tried using folding room dividers and heavy-duty magnets, but they figured out how to get inside in just a week! The kitchen has vaulted ceilings and no framing for traditional barriers, which limits my options. I've looked into the IKEA Skytta system but am unsure if it'll fit my setup. There's also KNR sliding doors, but they're quite pricey. Any creative suggestions for blocking my cats without fully closing off the kitchen?

Honestly, think of your cats as the bosses here – they tend to find their way if they really want something. Rather than stressing over dividers, maybe keep all food and tempting items in cabinets with child locks. It might save you a lot of hassle! Plus, who knows what kind of cat adventures happen at night when you’re not looking?
You could also try using a combination of different barriers. Maybe something more sturdy that they can't easily climb over? A tall gate or a custom solution with removable sections might work better than just room dividers. That way, you don’t lose as much light or space.
Have you considered training your cats? It sounds like a hassle, but a spray bottle can be really effective if you catch them on the counters or trying to sneak in. A few sprays worked wonders for my cats, and they got the message pretty quickly! It might take some time, but consistency is key.

Totally agree! A little persistence can go a long way. I keep mine close by, and they learned really fast what’s off-limits.
