I've been having issues with my AC unit running all day and the drain pan getting full. Unfortunately, it's started leaking into my kitchen below. This isn't the first time—previously, insulation got stuck in the drain line, which is in a bit of a tricky attic space. While I can reach the drain pan and see it's full of water, the drain line exit is about 20 feet away from my access point. I'm thinking of using my shop vac to clear it out, but I'm unsure how to get a good seal around the line with the shop vac hose. Plus, since it's positioned 15 feet up, I need to figure out how to lift the vacuum to that height. Any tips or suggestions?

To get a decent seal with your shop vac over the drain pipe, try using a rag around the pipe before placing the vacuum hose over it. You don't need it to be super airtight; just good enough to create suction. It should work fine!
It’s common for crud to build up in AC drain lines. I usually use compressed air and a specialized AC drain line cleaner to maintain mine. You can also buy 'tablets' to toss into the drain pan occasionally to prevent clogs.
Thanks for the tip! I ended up using an old sock and it sealed well enough. I managed to suck out a good amount of water!
