I'm curious if there's a way I can track and collect energy export data from my friends' houses. Is there existing tech that can help with this?

If you're into DIY solutions, you could set up an ESP32 with an ATM90E32 chip and some CT clamps. This setup would allow you to report everything to a database and use Grafana to visualize the data nicely. It’s pretty affordable but does require some effort to put together. If you’re looking at home automation, considering Home Assistant with ESPHome would simplify things a lot. It's a great way to monitor energy across different systems!

Hey! Thanks for the detailed response! This setup sounds fantastic. Do you know if it can work with any type of system my friends have, or are there specific requirements?

You might want to check out the Emporia Vue; it’s capable of doing just that! It's user-friendly and can help you gather energy data across multiple locations without too much hassle.
