I recently bought my first house, and I've noticed that my sump pump discharges water right next to the house, where there's actually a drain buried underneath. However, there's a 6-inch gap between the sump discharge and the drain, which makes water splash everywhere and floods the area by the house. I'm looking for advice on how to connect these two to prevent this issue. Any suggestions?

To address that gap, you might want to consider using a downspout adapter for the underground drain to create a wider opening. Alternatively, you could use a PVC coupler to extend the pump's discharge pipe a bit. It's best to check out a big box store to find the right parts to match what you already have, especially since we don't have a full view of your setup.
Are you working with a 6-inch pipe? If so, that might give you a head start on finding the right connector. Just make sure that whatever you do, you don't completely seal it up if the gap is meant to allow for drainage.
