I've got a DWD 520 hammer drill that's equipped with a 3-jaw chuck, but it's proving to be a hassle. Most of the bits I need are SDS type, which means I've been cutting the SDS ends off and trying to fit the round parts into the chuck. This method isn't working out well, and I'm stuck without a good solution. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement chuck or an adapter that will allow me to use SDS bits with this drill? I've tried searching but keep finding parts that attach to the SDS, not replacing the chuck itself. Thanks in advance!

You might want to consider getting a Spline Drive to SDS Plus adapter; they're pretty common and can ease the transition. To make it work, slip the SDS Plus bit into the adapter, then fit the cutting end into your drill's chuck. You might need to file down the spline part slightly to ensure a snug fit, but using even pressure should keep everything neat. Just a heads-up, hammer drills can afford to be a bit off in alignment, so minor adjustments should be okay!
What tasks do you typically tackle with your DWD520? If most of your work is related to masonry, I highly recommend investing in an SDS rotohammer instead. Hammer drills are handy for smaller holes in materials like brick, but when it comes to larger diameters, like for concrete, an SDS will blow your current setup out of the water!
I originally got this hammer drill for Tapcon screws in concrete, and it works for that, but occasionally I need larger holes—even a 2" hole through brick for a sump pump exit. Unfortunately, I can't find the right bits that fit!
I don’t know if that's the best idea since it could lead to more complications in the field. Picking up a specific SDS bit seems like a better plan, plus it would eliminate the hassle of filing things down. There must be compatible replacement heads for the model that directly fit the SDS too.
