How Can I Create Privacy for an Airbnb With Stairs Opening Into Our Family Room?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice on a design issue we're facing while converting the upstairs of our home into an Airbnb rental. It's a great space with its own family room, bathroom, wet bar, and two bedrooms, but there's a big problem: the stairs open directly into our downstairs family room. This creates noise and privacy concerns for both us and our guests since there's no door at either end of the staircase, and the open railing makes it feel too exposed.

I'm trying to figure out how to create some boundaries without major remodeling and without it looking cheap. Specifically, I need help with:

* Adding a door or partition at the top or bottom of the stairs
* Soundproofing or visually blocking off the stairway
* Making the entry feel more private while using the same front door

Any suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks!

One idea is to consider creating a separate entrance for the Airbnb guests from the outside. This could be done by removing or closing off the current staircase access with a wall and putting in a door that leads directly from the outside. It would really enhance the privacy for guests and help create that distinct separation you’re looking for. Plus, it could add value to your property!

How would I go about that?
